Teeth, as inseparable part of a human body are growing in the young age, and thus all problems with child’s teeth will turn into disasters in a mature age. Dentistry costs are going crazy these days. So, why not start taking a proper care of your child’s teeth to avoid problems in future? Here is the list of 10 dental tips.
By the way, dental tips for kids do not differ from those for adults. At the same time, kids are the most precious human beings in this world and that is why we have to take a proper care of dental health for kids. Activities in which kids are engaged require bright and happy smiles.
- Teach your child to use toothbrush. Make it a habitual action. Set a good example by showing how you and your partner brush teeth. Get educational books for kids with illustration of how other kids (or perhaps animals) brush their teeth.
- Choose the right toothpaste. Kids are quite picky and perhaps many of them will not like menthol toothpaste. Look for fruit flavors. Having chose the kind of toothpaste your child likes, start showing him or her how to hold a brush and use toothpaste. Make it funny and interesting. Motivate your child.
- Tech your child to thoroughly brush his/her teeth. Just holding a brush or pretending you are brushing teeth does not mean anything. Make sure the brush reaches all teeth.
- Avoid too much snacks, junk food and sugar drinks like cola or soda. If you want to spoil your child’s teeth, let him/her eat junk food and wash it down with soda. So, avoid these products. Explain your child that this food and drinks will make him/her look terrible.
- Make it a ritual to brush teeth after each meal, if this is possible, of course. When you are at home, brush teeth together after each meal. If this is not possible (you are not at home) wash your mouth with normal water to remove all food particles from your mouth.
- When your child gets older, tech him/her to use a dental floss. As known, floss removes food particles stuck between teeth that a toothbrush cannot reach.
- Use Fluoride pills that are made especially for kids. Talk to your dentist about those.
- Do not use teeth to crack hard food particles or open something. This is a direct way to teeth problems.
- No chewing gums. Sure, advertising says the opposite. Do not believe it. Try to avoid chewing gums and teach your kids to chew them not very often.
- Pay regular visits to local dentist. Always motivate your child. Combine this visit with something pleasant (going to movies, skating rink, football game, b-day party etc).
This list is really endless, but here we have listed the most important tips related to dental health for kids.
